The Seventeenth Convocation of the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University for the Academic Year 2017-2018 held at the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture

The Seventeenth Convocation for the Academic Year 2017-2018 was held at the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, at 1:00 pm on 15th June, 2018. The ceremony was attended by the members of samgha headed by the most Venerable Thanlyin Minn Kyaung Sayadaw Aggamahapandita Baddanta Candimabhivamsa, the Secretary of the State Samghamahanayaka Committee. At the ceremony, H.E. Thura U Aung Ko the Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture, delivered the congratulatory welcome speech. Then Aggamahapandita,Aggamahaganthavacakapanditi, Aggamahasaddhammajotikadhaja Bhaddanta Dr.Nandamalabhivamsa, the Rector of the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University, conferred the Doctorate and insignia on (9) students including 2 monks, 2 nuns, 2 gentlemen and 3 ladies for the Academic year 2017-2018. The Rector Sayadaw also conferred the Master Degree on (12) students comprising (4) monks, (4) nuns, (1) gentleman and (3) ladies for the Academic year 2016-2017; and the Bachelor Degree on (30) students consisting of (14)monks, (12) nuns, (1) gentleman, and (3) ladies for the Academic year 2017-2018. After that, the most venerable Rector Sayadaw delivered an ovadakatha, the admonitory words. Then H.E. Thura U Aung Ko, the Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture went round the ITBM University, and inspected the Fundamental Course on Library and the Basic Computer Course. The International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University was inaugurated on 9 December, 1998, and students from (17) foreign countries and also local students consisting of monks, gentlemen, nuns nand ladies are studying at the ITBM University. The University has produced (26) Doctorates in PhD (BDh), (189) Postgraduates in MA (BDh), (703) Graduates in BA (BDh) and (1077) Diploma graduates. It is learnt that, in the current academic year 2018-2019, (284) students including foreign students consisting of monks, gentlemen, nuns and ladies are studying at the ITBM University.
